Broward parents can find out about magnet programs

Broward parents can learn about the school district's many magnet programs from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.

Visitors will have a chance to experience firsthand more than 40 magnet programs with displays and hands-on demonstrations and interactive activities.

There will be information on how to apply and what transportation is available. Translators will be available for Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian-Creole speakers.

All students who will be in kindergarten through 12th grades are eligible to apply to magnet programs.

Applicants to middle and high school magnet programs should bring copies of their recent report cards and FCAT scores. The application deadline is Feb. 17.

For more information, contact Ruth Johnson, Magnet Programs, 754-321-2380.

The convention center is at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
