Jacory Harris again leads a scoring drive for Miami Hurricanes

For the third consecutive game, freshman quarterback Jacory Harris entered the game late in the second quarter. And for the third consecutive game, Harris led UM on a scoring drive.

With UM trailing 24-0, Harris completed a 20-yard pass to Leonard Hankerson and then moved the Canes to the FSU 11 to set up a Matt Bosher field goal.

STRONG START

In his first start at weak-side linebacker, freshman Sean Spence had a career-high six tackles (five solo) by the end of the first quarter and finished with 10 to lead the Hurricanes. Spence had five tackles at Florida. He replaced Colin McCarthy, who was out with a shoulder injury.

TOUGH DAY

Freshman cornerback Brandon Harris made his first collegiate start at cornerback and had a rough outing. He was flagged twice for pass interference and once for holding.

FIRST INTERCEPTION

Senior cornerback Bruce Johnson recorded the first interception of the season for the Canes secondary when he picked off a Christian Ponder pass in the end zone on the opening drive of the game.

EXTRA POINTS

• Starting defensive end Eric Moncur left the game midway through the second quarter with a lower leg injury. Freshman defensive end Marcus Robinson left with an injury midway through the third quarter. Freshman linebacker Jordan Futch left in the third quarter with flu-like symptoms.

• Chris Rutledge started at right tackle for the injured Reggie Youngblood.

• With 125 players from Florida on both rosters, the game featured 24 players who attended the same high schools.
